15 Scholarship Awards Invested in Local Students
Twelve students received $2,000 Empowering a Better Tomorrow scholarships, and three additional students received the inaugural $1,000 President Arthur McCants Scholarship — bringing the branch's 2026 scholarship investment to $27,000.

Five Las Vegas students advanced from local competition to the national ACT-SO stage, representing the branch and community among talented young people from across the country.

At the Housing Committee's first Save the Block estate-planning event, seven participants completed wills and powers of attorney or advance directives and received free notarization.

A member of the branch's Legal Redress Committee helped secure a civil-rights trial victory after the original complaint had previously stalled.
The committee also cleared its pending email intake and moved to consistent daily review of new Legal Redress inquiries. Legal Redress → Civic Power 2Major Voting-Rights Campaigns Mobilized
The branch launched its 2026 Primary "Sign It. Seal It. Send It." GOTV campaign and then moved directly into the No on Question 7 campaign through voter education, coalition work, public advocacy, phone banking, and election-protection efforts.

The Legal Redress Committee brought community organizations, unions, fraternities, churches, volunteers, and supporters together for the second annual NAACP Las Vegas Dodgeball Tournament.

The branch developed Black History Season as a broader community framework spanning Kwanzaa through March, connecting history, culture, education, civic engagement, and community programming.

Branch committees are where members turn concern into organized action. Across Las Vegas, committee chairs and volunteers are building programs, responding to issues, creating events, and moving the civil rights mission forward.
Community walks and court-watch work.
The Criminal Justice Committee is organizing monthly community walks and preparing a court-watch program launching in August.
Save the Block.
The Housing Committee is advancing free will-creation and notarization work to help protect generational wealth and keep families connected to their homes.
Data centers, extreme heat, and policy advocacy.
The committee is organizing around environmental justice issues and preparing a September legislative event with Sierra Club and the Black Legislative Caucus.
Second Chance employment pathways.
The Labor & Industry Committee is supporting job access for people with legal histories, employment gaps, seniors, and community members seeking opportunity.
Hike & Heal and walking-safety programming.
The Health & Wellness Committee is connecting community health, safety, healing, movement, and outdoor engagement through active programming.

Toward Our Centennial
Approaching 100 Years of Civil Rights Work in Las Vegas.
Founded in 1928, NAACP Las Vegas Branch #1111 is approaching a historic milestone. As the branch moves toward its centennial, a new chapter is being built through active committees, stronger systems, youth investment, community partnerships, and weekly work in the places where civil rights still matter.
Under Executive Director Gerald Mayes, the branch is strengthening its infrastructure, expanding civic engagement, supporting volunteers, and preparing the organization for the next generation of advocacy.
