NAACP Las Vegas Branch

Black History Season 2026

A citywide season of events, programs, and storytelling honoring Black history, culture, and community—hosted by the NAACP Las Vegas Branch and our partners.

Three generations. One purpose. This season centers culture, education, civic engagement, and community action across Southern Nevada.

About the Season

Black History Season 2026 is the NAACP Las Vegas Branch’s coordinated, citywide approach to honoring Black history—not as a single moment, but as a living continuum of culture, struggle, leadership, and community power.

The season intentionally blends education, civic engagement, storytelling, service, and cultural expression, connecting historical context to present-day realities.

Faith institutions, nonprofits, educators, artists, youth leaders, and local businesses are invited to contribute programming aligned with shared values of equity, justice, and collective progress.

Our approach is intentional: we center community voices, honor elders and legacy-builders, elevate youth leadership, and create participation opportunities that are accessible and action-oriented.

Passing the Torch

Share Your Story or Nominate a Torchbearer

Passing the Torch is our intergenerational storytelling initiative—honoring elders, uplifting freedom fighters, and empowering youth by preserving our stories in our own voices.

Use the form to share a reflection, submit a story, or nominate someone whose leadership deserves to be recognized. If you prefer to speak instead of write, you can request an oral history interview.

  • Who lit the fire for you?
  • What must never be forgotten?
  • What are you passing forward?
Tip: If you are nominating a torchbearer, include one specific story or example of impact. If you are sharing your story, focus on one moment or lesson that shaped you.
